Alternative to a Hog Roast – The Carvery Bar
We’ve all been at an event, be it a wedding, fete, or corporate do, where the food provided is a hog roast. Hog roasts have been gaining popularity for the past few years, as they have a certain retro appeal which chimes with both hipsters and those of us who remember them from the first time round. They also make a (somewhat controversial) centrepiece as well as a talking point. Yet their appeal is waning for a number of reasons, and this has led event coordinators everywhere to search for a hog roast alternative for social gatherings.
One option only
A hog roast might suit some of your guests, but it won’t satisfy them all, and usually when the catered food is a hog roast, that is the only option on offer. This can be shortsighted for a number of reasons. First of all, there are religious restrictions on pork that mean some of your guests can’t eat it. Secondly, vegetarianism and veganism are both on the rise, which puts an event planner at further risk of alienating guests not only by neglecting to provide a vegetarian option but also by installing a rotating animal carcass as the event’s centrepiece.

Today’s society is better educated about nutrition than ever, and so you will find that vegetable sides are almost universally appreciated amongst party goers. Not only that, but vegetables round out a plate and perfectly complement meat mains to make for an overall satisfying meal. Of course, vegetarians and vegans will thank you for providing for them also.
Back of the queue
Another way in which hog roasts can leave guests feeling shortchanged is that some will get a much nicer cut of pork than others, depending on how quickly they muscle their way to the front of the queue when it’s announced that the food is ready. This is not the nicest atmosphere to foster at a supposedly fun event, where guests should feel carefree and sociable.

We recently had an event at work which was to celebrate a completed Project and thank all employees, for this we hired KK Catering and we had the Pie Van, our event was called Canopie!!! (canopy and pie).
